About J the Teach

Thanks to all who've read my blogs and have given encouragement to my endeavours!

I realized yesterday that though I've received a lot of encouragement in regards to blogging, I've skipped an important step of blogging.

And thats the "Introduction/About Me" post.

Though its a bit late, here's my short piece.

Born in the dog of the world, Malaysia (check the map the top looks like a dog!), raised in Canada.  A reckoner of Science with a preoccupation of the Arts.

As a kid and even now I am fascinated with nature and the many adaptations that the creatures of the earth have utilized in living.  Whether big or small, each of them are masters of their own domains.  The balances created by the interactions between animals, plants and their environment is mind-boggling.  The many varied species present to us a paradox of their robustness and yet fragility to changes.

It was these thoughts and a few others that inspired me to study in the Sciences and later to get an Education degree.  To me, I think the best teachers are the ones who love to Learn.  Please note I didn't say study or are academic.  For not everything is considered academic and I've never heard of anyone studying to love.

I have heard of 'loving' to learn' and even 'learning to love'.  For if one does not love to learn, then there is no growth and as science and literature has taught me, if you do not grow, then you die.

It is sad to see the many teachers who have lost that fire to learn, the excitement of knoweldge and the utilization of wisdom.

I've had the great privilege of sharing my education program with a cohort of fantastic people. All of which I can safely say have chosen to become teachers due to an inspiring teacher/mentor in their lives whom have demonstrated the passion for learning and the drive to share that passion to their students.

I do hope that each and everyone of them have successful careers in teaching, because I think the school system, and especially the students, are missing out if otherwise.
